The Big Journey
This is an educational video game for PC focused on the Ecuadorian Kañari culture. The project, whose objective is to revalue cultural aspects of the Kañaris in young people, was developed as part of an academic investigation between the University of Cuenca and the Ministry of Culture and Heritage of Ecuador.

The Great Journey tells the story of Nina Samay, a young Kañari who at the age of 15 has to face the Inca invasion of Ecuadorian territories. His mission is to escape from the Incas and reach Shabalula, the most important city of the Kañari empire. In her journey, Nina will embrace the knowledge and worldview of her culture to arrive safely at his destination.

Recognitions

The project obtained the endorsement of the Ministry of Culture and Heritage of Ecuador and was presented on March 20, 2017 at the Pumapungo Ancestral Museum.

  • The members of the project were invited to TEDx Cuenca, in June 2017 to talk about their experience of developing the video game.
  • The Big Journey received the support and sponsorship of the IndieCade to appear at E3 in the city of Los Angeles, USA, from June 12 to 15, 2017.
